Welcome to the on-line home of the Kokua Coalition. We are an alliance of Vacation Rental (VR) owners and managers, Bed & Breakfast (B&B) hosts, restaurateurs, real estate professionals and vendors like carpenters, landscapers and housekeepers who support better regulation of O‘ahu’s VR and B&B industry. We are small businesspeople who understand that VRs and B&Bs are a key component to sharing the prosperity of the visitor industry – the state’s economic lifeblood – across O‘ahu. The income from VRs and B&Bs helps many local residents pay their mortgage or children’s education, fund a retirement and other uses. Our mission is to promote sensible tourism at the community level, allowing homeowners and businesses to share the Aloha spirit with visitors from around the world while maintaining the integrity of residential neighborhoods. Our goals: • Establish a fair licensing infrastructure so that all VRs and B&Bs may become licensed in the City and County of Honolulu. • Achieve a reasonable legislative remedy quickly, and establish an enforcement moratorium and permitting and licensing grace period. Our strategy: • Facilitate the introduction, consideration and passage of reasonable legislation before the City Council. Please join us!
